Es bastante interesante en todos los aspectos por la posición de los planetas, los cuales no estan todos a la misma altura.

Bueno dado que es bien facil hacerlo y en media horita puedo convertir un modelo para el mod Star Trek, he decidido incluir lo que seria la era avanzada de TOS, la representada en los viejos juegos de Star Fleet Command 1 y 2. Al menos en el caso de la Federación usare modelos creados por Rick Knox a.k.a pneumonic81 sino ningun problema. Son modelos viejos pero muy buenos. La verdad es que de Star Trek hay mucho para escoger pero este ofrecia el mejor paquete para esto. Tengo tambien la intención de añadir naves porta cazas que aparecian en estos juegos y que vimos tambien en series como Star Trek DS9.

Bueno ahi va la primera captura, seria la actualización del Akula.


Estas capturas son del aloviewer y no del juego pero podeis imaginar como luciran de bien pese a su antiguedad. Tambien pienso añadir más plataformas espaciales de las que hay, astilleros y similares.

Si lo estas pensando no es el Enterprise B o el Excelsior, es diferente. Tiene entre otras cosas 2 generadores de escudos.

He estado pensando y la posibilidad de añadir unidades terrestres existe. No seria imposible conseguir modelos de Klingons, Romulanos y humanos de algun juego como los Elite Force, eso para la infanteria y los vehiculos, si se usan diseños del juego Star Trek New Worlds, seria factible porque no eran nada dificiles de hacer. Los edificios tampoco seria complicado. Ahora solo tengo que buscar un ordenador donde pueda cargar este juego tan antiguo, quizas en mi netbook funcione y pueda tomar unas capturas de las unidades que me ayuden a hacer unas cuantas cosas nuevas con tranquilidad. Pero por el camino terminare lo iniciado. La idea es hacer el mod por etapas.

The new page on Mod db will help generate a lot of new interest. Others have tried star trek mods for FOC but they had lacked any great scope. I think ground combat will prove to be one of the harder challenges to come across as there is such limited material available. Star Trek New Worlds probably gives a good basis to start with. There is quite a few base structures, base defenses etc. Then the other task is balancing the different races. My intial thoughts are that Klingon ground forces will have an advantage in heavy armour and firepower just like their starships. They will specialise in heavy shock troops and general infantry would be cheaper as all true Klingons are warriors at heart. For an ecomomic boost they could build forced labour camps as an addition to dilithium mines.
 
The Federation would have greater advantage in overall economy due to the many worlds in the Federation, however their units would cost more as they are generally anti war. The Federation units / bases would be better shielded than there counter parts, though lacking the same firepower as the Klingons and Romulans.

Romulan Empire will be true to their nature. Striking hard and fast from the shadows. Their units and bases will benift from cloaking devices. Their vehicles will likely be lighter armoured and shielded than the Federation and Klingons. Though they will also be faster to meet the hit and fade tactic. They will likely rely on Reman shock troops for their heavy infantry.  Stealth saboteurs will likely prove a menace in any ground assaults. Tal Shiar head quarters could remove the fog of war on a planet and also reveal nearby tactical data on nearby planets.

The game Star Trek Birth of the Federation had many unique structures for each races. For instance the hall of warriors could be built on Qo'Nos and give a tactical advantage to klingon troops on a empire wide scale.

Yeah, some time ago. It was a flop as RTS games goe, though the idea was good.

My idea about ground units would be use the designs from structures and vehicles that we could see at Star Trek New Worlds. For the infantry, I would use easily models from Star Trek Elite Force. Obviously, if I use stuff from a game, I will not upload it at Moddb. But all this idea from ground units would be for far at the future. At this moment, my primary concern is finish the space units.

Perhaps some people saw this mod as never completed but always I finish my mods, it is a matter of time and at difference from many other mod teams, I can finish it, I do not need nothing which I can not make with my hands, other people start big proyects when they do not know how complete them, I can tell you at least ten EAW/FOC mods which they will not be finished. Never. Because the people never thought if they could handle the work. ::)

I think like yourself there are lot of new modders out there who just copy models from other mods and then put their own name on it. I only recently went through a few FOC mod tutorials to get a better understanding of how much work actually goes into a good mod. I came to a couple of conclusions, the first one was the amount of man hours that are required just to change even the smallest details and secondly leave it to people who know what they are doing, lol.

The space aspect of the mod has so may possibilties. Will you use any of the ships from the game Klingon Academy? As for the upgrades for ships there as so many options; The Klingon D7 Battlecruiser, has the K'Tinga upgrade and the heavier C7 command variant upgrade such as Qo'nos 1.

Yes, you are right. Many people copy the original models from games as if they were made by themself at 100%. It is a shame. I do not make it. In fact, even they copy the work from other models as if it was made by them.

But there are other facts which it makes that probably you do not see other Star Trek proyect like it. First there are very few people which they can convert models made for other games and less people can make ground units, ground units need animations and very few people know about how make them. I´m not a great creator of models, I can make new models but it takes a lot of free time. But I add animations to all type of units, be infantry, vehicles or other special units. This is the thing which many people can not make and by this reason they will not finish their mods as they promised to the players.

But I do not think that I can extract the models from Klingon Academy and the best option always will be the models made by many other people for Star Fleet Command, I can use most of them and they are very good.

Other thing that I will add, it will be the carriers.

You wanted know about the space units. These are the most of the units from TOS era. Ignore the three TNG Klingon units.

Well thats quite an impressive list. The addition of carriers to the fleet will really add another dimension to epic space battles. Will you add freighters to each faction that will add credits p/w. You could a limit to how many you could build. I also noticed that you've added a trading station; will this generate credits p/w aswell? Thanks for taking the time for posting a unit a list. Seeing them in picture makes it easier. I imagine at some point in the future when time permits you will add them your ever growing encyclopedia.

If I add freighters, it will be as construction vehicles. But I have not told nothing about a trading station. But there will be more of 10 different additional stations and yes in the future when I can, I will add the new Star Trek units to the encyclopedia.

Otro buen modelo hecho por Rick Knox a.k.a pneumonic81. Es el diseño del conocido Excelsior que en el mod tengo pensado poner como el acorazado de la Federación en lo que seria la era avanzada TOS.
