Computer CPU - What is yours?
« on: April 18, 2019, 10:15:05 AM »
These days there is a two type of computer CPU, both with good and bad things. The AMD Ryzen and the Intel 8000/9000. Each day the Ryzen is probably winning more buyers because the price difference is high comparing with the Intel, specially in the most powerful CPU.

With games running better with multiple cores/threads, the Ryzen looks as more than possible winner. However it is dragged by a worse singlethread/quadcore performance and most of the games do not use more of 4 cores/1 thread because they were made specially for the old Intel designs.

Infact any Ryzen 3/5/7 is not faster than my old i5-4690K with a lightly 4.4Ghz OC in singlecore and quadcore.

The singlethread performance is the most important feature playing the EAW/FOC because the game does not use more of one core, even being a 32bits game, it does not use more 2GB RAM.

The last Intel 8000/9000 series are as 10 points faster in singlethread than a Ryzen 7 in a userbench analisis https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/AMD-Ryzen-7-2700X/Rating/3958 / https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Intel-Core-i7-8700/Rating/3940 , the Intel 9000 series is as 30 points more.

These are the values from my old i5 https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/14343278 very close in singlethread to one i7-8700. It happens because this type of perfomance has not been increased too much with the past of the years. But playing EAW/FOC is the most important. I know, if you play 4k, 144hz, you will need a better and most modern CPU with more multicore perfomance because all the system goes more stressed running in these resolutions/screen frecuency. However, it depends from the game.

Anyway, I can tell you how there is not CPU where you do not see a bit of lag anytime in EAW/FOC playing the FOC Alliance. Of course the original is from 2006 and it has other requeriments. It is the price by to play some better and different.

Now please tell us about your computer.
