Star Wars Empire at War – FOC Alliance – Better Performance II
The last update improved a lot the performance playing big battles, it is a fact. Before after the official patch from Disney/Petroglyph released at january, the mod lost some of performance and there was lag playing some battles. Now it is fixed and even it runs better than before the patch.
This battle with 3 factions involved is a proof. I played it in my secondary computer, a Ryzen 5 3500X mounted in a MSI X570 Edge Wifi, two cheap Vipersteel 16GB RAM DDR4 3733Mhz modules and a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1060 3GB graphics card. It counts with a SSD M2 970 EVO Plus where I installed the game and the mod, one old SATA SSD Samsung 840 EVO and HDD Seagate Barracuda 2TB. In addition I use a external usb sound card, a Soundblaste Omni 5.1 and I have 5.1 speaker system. All the system is mounted in a beautiful case Be Quiet Pure Base 500 but with the addition from the frontal panel used in a Pure Base 500 DX. The keyboard is a cheap Corsair K55 and the mouse a Logitech G603 as the used in my primary computer. The screen is different than before, it is the Benq 24″ 1080p used before in my primary computer, now I use a Acer
Acer Predator XB253QGPbmiiprzx in the primary.
As you can see, it is not the top computer from the world. It is a cheap computer where I can play a Far Cry 5 very well or EAW with my mod. 😛
About the battle recorded, I recorded it with Geforce Experience. It is worse than the external recorder from the primary computer but it can be used.
In the battle not everything are perfect, I play these battles mostly searching troubles because I can play with all the units.
The Death Star is one of the things which I do not know if it can be made better. Perhaps yes because in some maps it is spawned in the middle of the battle. It would be better if the AI would spawn it one of the borders. It is one thing to be studied because it is a bit big.
You will note the feature commented before from the missile cruisers, now the proyectiles fly more straight and they do not make strange curves, it saves a lot of fps avoiding lag.
Other change are the abilities, some ships use the maximun power fire from a AT-AT and it runs, it is good for them by other reasons but many others use one thing similar to a normal power to weapons, by default this ability is not auto-fired and I do not like it because I prefer automatic things, it is not a simulator. Solution? a simple script firing the ability sometimes. It runs. But in the future I will improve more each unit.
With the last update you will note how some ships are bigger as I told you before. ISD, all the variants are bigger but probably your eyes will not note anything different most of the times. But units as the Megator clearly are bigger, just a bit but by their design you can note these things better.
